GRACE--our discussions of the future of Catholic Education
“I’m sure most of you have seen the article in the Enquirer
about planning groups for Catholic Education in this area in
the future. Our group known as GRACE (Granting Regional
Access to Catholic Education) resumed their planning meetings
on September 19th. St. Michael, Our Lady of the Sacred
Heart, and St. Peter and Paul parishes, with their pastors and
lay leadership from each parish, are meeting to discuss ways
to keep Catholic education a strong and viable option in their
geographic region.
Facilitated by Ms. Pat Armstrong, formerly Assistant Superintendent
and now a consultant for the Catholic Schools Office,
the committee will look at all aspects of Catholic Education in
our area and ultimately intend to develop a plan to ensure that
Catholic Education is available to all families from this area
who wish it for their children.
As part of their work the committee will look at enrollments,
demographics, finances, and other governance models of
schools here in this Archdiocese to learn what new models
are in place and what opportunities they provide.
As Father Jeff explained last year, and Father John has agreed,
we will not make any decisions without involving parishioners
and parents. At this time, we are just gathering the information
necessary to make decisions.
The plan that will be created will not be utilized until sometime
in the future when circumstances occur that would cause the
current schools of St. Michael and Our Lady of the Sacred
Heart to be at risk. Foresight and careful planning now will
lessen the impact of that risk and provide a clear path for the
future.”

Changes to the Campbell Soup Labels Program!
Thanks to all of you who are saving Campbell Soup labels
for our school! These labels help us to get equipment
and supplies for the classrooms. Please note that
there are changes to the label program. We now need
to collect only the UPC code from all Campbell and
Pepperidge Farm products. (The front of the soup
label is no longer needed.) We need the lids from all
Prego sauces and V-8 juice products. You can continue
to drop all labels and lids off in the plastic boxes
located on the Communications Center in the Gathering
Space of the church.
Save Your Boxtops for Education Labels!
Thanks also to all of you who are saving your Boxtops
for Education labels for our school. Everyone can save
these labels and drop them in the plastic boxes located
on the Communications Center in the Gathering Space.
These labels can be found on many food and paper products
including: Pillsbury, Yoplait, General Mills, Betty
Crocker, Nature Valley, Bisquick, Ziploc, Kotex, Kleenex,
Scott and Hefty. Our school receives 10 cents for every
label collected. Your help is greatly appreciated!
