When the Church comes together in the liturgical assembly to celebrate the Mass, we gather in a variety of ministries and roles. The Constitution on the Sacred Liturgy of the Second Vatican Council tells us that participation in the liturgy is the right and duty of all the baptized.
Lectors are Lay persons, teenagers through adults, who proclaims the Word of God at Mass. Lectors read the first and second readings, along with the intercessions (unless a deacon is at Mass).
Extraordinary Ministers of the Holy Communion are confirmed Catholics of high school age or older who help distribute the Body and Blood of Christ to their fellow parishioners. These individuals should regularly attend Mass at one of our Parish Family churches, develop a strong Eucharistic spirituality and always be in communion with the assembly through their actions.
Altar Servers are individuals in sixth grade or higher who serve the entire assembly by their example of prayer and by assisting the priest and ministers during our liturgies. A training session is required and they should have a reverent presence at all times.
Hospitality Ministers are adult individuals who arrive early for Mass to help welcome people as they arrive and, when there is a large gathering, help people find a seat location. They are also needed to take care of any special needs of the assembly and to assist with the collection at Mass.
Music Ministry Our cantors and choirs sing regularly at Sunday Masses and special liturgies throughout the year. Instrumentalists are strongly encouraged to share their talent with our parish family. Instrumentalists can play regularly at Mass or can be contacted only for special feasts and occasions.
